Jillian
Owner & Creative
All things creative
My creative journey began working as a hairdresser for 6 years followed by co-owning and operating a Nail salon for a further 6 years .
I have studied with both The Interior Design Academy and The Interior Design Institute enabling me to work with a property developer flipping houses.
I have been lucky enough to have indulged in a myriad of creative experiences.
Ceramic Hand Building, Resin, Alcohol Inks, Block Printing, Wreath Making, Paint/ Decoupage ,Candle Pouring
Canvas stretching
Furniture Upcycling, Upholstery and more!
I jumped at the opportunity to volunteer with the Set Design team for the production The Resistance at ATYP (Australian Theatre for Young People)Loved every minute!
I love creating specific settings. Whether it be for an event, a stage ,internal or external spaces .I love the art of creating an environment that produces a distinct atmosphere and all that that entails. . All the elements coming together to create a completely immersive experience.
I've always been aware of how different spaces can create different emotions, and at the SHEd I like to create a feeling of escape & relaxation. Shutting the doors on all the everyday responsibilities for a couple of hours. Working with your hands ,opening yourself up to experience ,both socially and creatively.
12 years in salons ,that's a lot of personalities .I have seen firsthand the benefits of time spent together and the feeling of connection and bonds women can form in a short amount of time. Add to that working side by side or collaborating on a project ,and the results can be magic!!
It truly is special helping people work through a project from conception to completion and the emotions that come with that. The everchanging levels of comfort throughout the process and the self-pride at completion.
There is a joy that comes with working with your hands and creating whilst indulging in conversation that often reveals how much we have in common. The conversations that are created through taking some time and creating are therapeutic in themselves. The SHEd is a space to meet a variety of personalities.
Creating an environment with a supportive encouraging light hearted atmosphere, connecting people, enabling them to form connections, and create in such a positive environment, that is my passion.
Welcome to The SHEd Kurrajong !
